Hi we have a girl and boy in the same room and we have a mortgage- part buy part loan so there is no way we will ever be able to move as we have debt and no savings and my husband has a pay freeze.  Is anyone in the same boat?  Does anyone have 3 in a room?  How do you find it?

Not in same boat they have their own rooms and we have spare rooms, that said we can't afford to have another yet so won't be!

Are you pregnant or asking if having another is feasible? Personally I think 2 in a room is enough, especially as when they get older and need more personal space, but i suppose it also depends how big the room that you have is?

I guess the other factors are you saying you wil never be ale to move? And the fact that you have a girl and a boy currently - not sure how they will continue to share as they get older?

Age gaps are also a factor as older kids don't want to share with crying babies or toddlers who don't sleep so well.

Obviosuly i dont have all the info but I would say based on what you have said 3 would be too many for the space yo have!

I have 3 boys in one room and they like it, we have a bunk bed with a pull out bed underneath ( it's lovely for little one and he couldn't wait sleep in it) To be honest my youngest and middle were arguing over who got the pull out one. Its great because they can push it under the bed when they want extra space and can keep it out when they don't. you can also get bunk cots which are great if they are younger. The boys room is quite big though to be honest so I don't know how it would be if it was small. They do love sharing their room, and they dont argue any more than other siblings - in fact I would say they argue less.  hth x

p.s my kids are 3,9 and 12 so its a mix.

I'm not pregnant, both of my children were surprises but we are more careful now so any more children would be planned and I think it would be unlikely we plan to have any more because of space and money, even though I have always thought I would have 3 and am a little bit broody.  The room is quite big DD is 2 years and 2 months old and she sleeps in a cabin bed with some storage and a desk, her toddler bed is still in there and DS is 10 months so he is in a cot in there.  They are 16 months apart.

I'm also just curios to see if anyone else is in the same boat?

Is the room big enough to split into two in the future?

Lucy are you in a house or flat?

If a house you could consider a loft conversion in the future (we are if we have more than 2/ got the money) as mixed gender rooms aren't great once they get to a certain age.

My mum shared a small room with her 2 sisters growing up (when my mum was born her sisters were 9 & 14) did them no harm.

Yep my youngest DD (7) & DS (3) share a room DD14 has her own room (although room is a bit of an exaggeration as it is more like a cupboard) at the moment it is working ok with DD & DS sharing and we can't afford to rent a bigger house so will be stuck here for some time to come I imagine. We may have to shuffle things around but at the moment we feel it is more important for DD (14) to have some space and privacy than for the younger ones to be seperated on gender grounds.

My boys will be moving into the same room in the summer in bunkbeds.  Nothing wrong with siblings sharing a room, even different sex siblings.  When they get older, you could just fix up a curtain down the middle to divide it.

Good idea, maybe a temporary type wall or a curtain that could be pulled across when they wanted to. :)

We are in a house but I asked my dad about this because he is a builder and he said there would be no where for the stairs to go. x

My self, OH & LO are in a medium sized room.
We had to get rid of a perfectly good king size bed & replace it with a double to create space for LO as kept hurting himself, not enough room to move about. Our stuff is all crammed in the same room also paying for storage.
There is a spare room but that is a long story. We are expected to have more kids
I can see my self  wanting to rant on here about, this because of the situation my OH is been put through.

I have a boy and girl that share a room,  DS is nearly 2 and DD is 1, they love it so far. Also the house I'm moving to only has 2 bedrooms so they will be sharing for a long time x
